White spots on tops of teeth

Hi, I'm Nikki  and I've had my braces for four months. I brush two-three x daily. I waterpik after every meal and make sure to brush my gums and in between the brackets. My problem is, about a month ago I began to notice white areas on the tops of my teeth. Next appointment,  I asked my orthodontist about them and he said it was "Just glue". I know for a fact these are not glue. What am I doing wrong? Help? :(

White spots are indication of the loss of enamel from our teeth. Dentists refer to this loss as hypocalcification, and they call the white spots that result from this loss hypoplasia. This should be taken seriously, otherwise may leads to the complete deterioration of teeth. The rise in pH and fluoride level of your mouth may cause white spots to be appear on teeth. Last year similar white spots appeared in my sister’s lower molars. But they got fixed by the a dentist from Thornhill smile centre in Ontario. He told her that braces won’t cause white spots but poor dental hygiene while wearing them can create white spots on teeth.
