Teeth Crooked After Braces :(

I got my braces off about a month ago and everything is perfect… except for my top second molars. They’re still sort of out of alignment. They don’t slant in any direction, they just spread out forming an open “u.” I talked about this with my orthodontist before he removed the braces but he really just wanted to get them off of me, and quite honestly, I wanted those crazy things gone too. I had been wearing braces for nearly ten years and I suffered from swollen gum and bad tartar buildup. They were making more problems than they were fixing.

My teeth actually turned out really well all things considered. Everything is so perfect except for those molars. It sort of drives me crazy. And I feel really weird about them too because they even cut them away from my retainer.

Ahh, is there anything I can do? Is this normal or am I just suffering from an OCD episode?

Almost 10 years in braces is A LOT. I wouldn't expect anyone to wear them more than 3-4 years and that's with some non-ligating types.

Anyway ... I would wear my retainer and make sure the teeth remain in this position. Afterwards it could be possible to have a short treatment for those molars, maybe not with that orthodontist though.
